True 360 Degree Feedback
Feedback Loop is more flexible than ever with the option of adding instructor ratings into the mix! Most courses only need student teammates to rate each other but some courses (particularly graduate level or project-based courses) often want a deeper peer feedback experience. Feedback Loop already supports team leads and team lead ratings and this update brings support for instructor teammate ratings for a true 360 degree teammate feedback process.
To use this feature, select “Include teaching roles” from the teams page and add an instructor (or multiple instructors) to each team. Linking instructors to a team filters that instructor’s view to only see their team’s survey results and can be used to collect feedback from that instructor about their team or students feedback about their instructor. Any instructor on a course that is not linked to a team will see all teams’ survey results.
With this new instructor ratings feature, (and our existing team lead ratings option) Feedback Loop is the most advanced 360 degree peer feedback tool available for the classroom. This enhanced peer feedback is best suited to senior year and graduate courses or any coursework that emphasizes project management. An instructor linked to one or more teams can provide detailed student ratings, alongside teammate peer feedback. This feature also supports student ratings of instructors, if needed.
When using auto-grading based on ratings received, any instructor ratings students receive are calculated, alongside any teammate ratings, for the student’s grade.
New Options in Survey Template Builder
Question options have been updated to support these instructor ratings. Both Recipient and Subject selectors now include Instructors and dynamically update based on your selections. For example, a survey question for instructors can be set to rate all teammates, team leads or provide overall feedback on the team.
Overall Team Feedback
There is a new subject type available for both student and instructor feedback: Overall Feedback. This new question type is designed to collect insights on overall team performance and can be collected from either students or instructors.
Improved Support for Large Courses
If instructors are added to individual teams, they now see only those teams’ results in the results view. This is optimal for large courses with many instructors where those instructors are directly engaged with a subset of student teams. This instructor-team association can be set even if instructor facing questions are not included in your survey.
