The Feedback Loop November 2024 update includes improved handling of auto grading, new flags for incomplete or late survey responses and a more user-friendly text editor. This update also includes some smaller user experience enhancements that have been requested from our users. Read on for a full detailing of the November update!
Improved Editor for Instruction Blocks
More flexible and easier to use! Designed to be more user-friendly than the previous editing view, this update provides more options for creating rich text instructions and adds a cleaner view so instructors can focus on writing great instructions.
Push Grades to LMS Gradebook
Previously, Feedback Loop magic grading was tied to the release of student results that provides students with a tailored, anonymized view of their performance within their team. While results release is popular, it is not used by all instructors who wish to use our automated grading solution, so this update provides a dedicated button to push the automatically calculated grades to the LMS gradebook.
The new Push Grades to LMS button will display for any closed surveys sent as assignments. After clicking, instructors can click again any time to update grades in the event that the survey is reopened and additional students complete it. After pushing grades, this icon transforms to a green checkmark that can be hovered on to see when results were last pushed (see below).
Partial and Late Response Indicators
A popular request was an in-app indicator of partial survey responses that have not yet been submitted and late responses that were submitted after the due-date (but before the survey was closed at which point surveys cannot be completed). In the example below, the first student has completed the survey on time, (neutral checkmark) the second student has partially completed, but not yet submitted and the third student has submitted late (red checkmark).
Everything Else
- Removed "Urgent" label from survey response email notification subject line at faculty request.
- Improved user-facing error messages when trying to launch Feedback Loop in an unregistered course.
- Survey action buttons redesigned to consolidate space and present more available actions.
Known Issue
For LMS courses where a student was removed after a survey was sent, grade push will not currently work. We are aware of the issue and working on a fix so stay tuned and, in the meantime, make sure to run a student sync in Feedback Loop any time the LMS course roster is changed. This has been addressed in the December 2024 product update!
